[virgin weekend]
just back from church. the first thing that hit me was that, i have not been alone, that God has been here with me all along. it felt good to be worshipping and to be hearing the word of God again, there was a sense of familiarity and belonging.
its the last day of the weekend. a typical weekend in singapore would have consisted of at least one whole day of play. here, i spent most of it studying. sheesh. but i didnt really mind i guess. lots of readings to prepare for monday.
went to barracks on friday evening. barracks is like the local shopping area, and its about 20minutes walk from where i am. mainly did some grocery shopping, and had dinner at a bakery. there's not much to do, unless you're buying household stuff (bed, bath and beyond), buying groceries (harris teeter) or if you want to eat (ben n jerry's!). there are a few clothing stores, including old navy and banana republic, but its not like takashimaya where you would just walk through and window shop.
we had a hall party on saturday, and i got a chance to visit everyone's rooms. gosh my room looks so drab! i want to do something about it, but i have no idea what and how. then after that i went over to phaemie's and we cooked dinner. on the floor! just thai rice noodles with chicken broth. and sausages that were too salty. oh plus egg! and we had a dish of eggplant. haha. weird dinner, but it was quite fun. she didnt have bowls so we ate the noodles out of cups. haha. oh and i ate bodo's bagels in the morning. the story of bodo's is that its been "opening" for almost 40 over years, and it finally did this year. haha am i lucky! really yummy bagels, but really filling.
not a very exciting weekend, but there's not much to do around here other than like school activities and that sorta thing. will be going for the ballroom interest meeting on monday, and will probably be joining a bible study group. so that will pretty much be my life here. now, back to doing my readings!
